Cheerfulness always leads you to triumph.
शमथ। Samatha
To someone who is always thinking about himself or herself, summer is uncomfortable heat,
winter is unbearable cold, rain is unpredictable inconvenience and spring is too short to be
acknowledged. To such a person, there is nothing much to look forward to. Some yearn for a fat
cheque, some yearn for wine, some believe in a better life after death.
What’s the point in living if you do not enjoy being on this planet? The real point is you are here
now and you have to be here for quite some time. Forget about the things you do not have, and
look at the things you have. I am not asking you to look at someone who does not have a leg and
be thankful for the two legs. There are better things in your life than two legs. For example,
you have a mind that is capable of thinking. Right now, it may be filled with gloom, but you can
turn the thought around.
Cheerfulness is not as hard as you think. You should just begin to appreciate it. As little as five
minutes a day is enough. Every morning for five minutes, just smile to yourself. Look at yourself
in the mirror and smile. If you don’t like the way you look, look at yourself and say, “Hey, you
look ugly”. But do not forget to smile and say. Do it without fail every morning before you put on
any make up. Do not resist when your smile splutter into a laugh here and there. If you can
stretch and lift in front of strangers in a gym, you can do this much in front of yourself, can’t you?
You are born to triumph. You are stopping it with your own ideas of success. Cheerfulnes can
replace your ideas with reality. Your triumph is real. Keep smiling and welcome your triumph
with laughter and joy.
Feel Blessed
