Discipline yourself to be relaxed.

Discipline yourself to be relaxed.

“I have so much to do that I don’t know what to do”, familiar with that feeling?

Have you asked yourself “Why”? Is it true that somebody is out there to get you by stressing you out? And have you unwittingly fallen into their sick game of wearing you out? What do someone gain by turning you into a hopeless wreck?  The only lead we have is that persistent feeling in your head which makes you even weaker than before. Is that it? No, look at the works in hand. How many are there for today? And what are the ones which need your attention this week? Wait! How do I do that? I have no time to sit down after all the work to do these additional bit. Well, start by leaving all other works and get these right; it takes half an hour, tops.

What do we have now? Plenty of time. You know the people you live with and the people you work with. And you know what role everyone plays; we are not referring to the villain or the knight in shining armour or the evil witch. Get rid of the stereotypes. That leaves you with people and your role; believe me, you are not Cinderella. Give a rest to your imagination, unless your profession demands you to be, and get real. Even if you are paid to be imaginative, please do not bring it home except when you are planning a party for your preteens at home.

Use your time to act with discrimination unless all your waking moments are Eureka moments of Archimedes. Discriminate your priorities as those to be done today, this week, this month, this quarter, this year, etc. And when you begin to attend to those in the prescribed manner, you will see time and space opening up for you. Do not forget that just because something is featured in this year category, you do not have anything to do about it in the days leading to it; discrimination should not kick common sense out. As always, ask when you are in doubt.
