Subtlety is key to success

Subtlety is key to success.

शमथ। Samatha

Success is everybody’s dream, but elusive. But is success really that difficult to find? It is not.
The biggest obstacle to success is your impatience; you want to reach before even you begin.
You cherish success, but you treat it like a commodity you can find on the racks of a general
store.

Begin with patience. Take time to see the bigger picture. Be accepting that as you move forward
the display changes from what you imagined when you began. Do not get impatient. At the
same time do not lose sight of your goal. The road you imagined to take you to your goal may
come up with unexpected blocks or delays. Instead of losing hope, look patiently for gaps or
alternate roads. Sometimes you may have to dig a tunnel to go around. Look forward, but never
lose your patience.

Do not beat your own drum. You must know your self-worth, but do not force it down others’
throats. Your superiors too are human beings. Do not assume that they are always in the right
mindset to hear you out. They can have bad days too. Do not go about making them
acknowledge your worth every time you pass each other on the corridors.

Success is not elusive if you know what it takes. Just like a tree moving towards sunlight even in
a thick jungle, you too must look towards the sunlight. But before the maneuver, you must
ensure that your roots have the strength and depth to hold you. Otherwise, you can easily be
uprooted. Patience will not fail you.
