Sense of Justice is not the license to abuse

शमथ। Samatha

“Those who do not conform with my idea of justice are enemies of the human race”, this is the attitude which is exhibited by a lot of otherwise well-meaning individuals who are active in the field of social justice. A singular idea, be it about God, justice, health, wealth or anything cannot sustain the diverse mental dispositions on this earth. Trying to enforce a singular idea of justice, a formula of if it works for me it will work for you too, is detrimental to the evolution of the human race as a whole.

Excluding those who differ from you in ideas is the first nail you drive into the coffin of justice. Localized events can only find solutions on the local level. For someone who takes up the cause of a small plant native to a region, it is their whole life. But for others, it is just another plant. These perceptions are not intentional, but due to ignorance or being overwhelmed by the number of equally important causes to be attended to. Abusing them for their ignorance is not going to get the work done.

Anybody who takes up higher causes should be endowed with patience more than anything else. Only patience will let you persevere. This is true not only in regard to higher causes but in ordinary day to day lives too. The winner is always the one with perseverance. Amidst the disturbances, one should not lose sight of the cause for which one is tirelessly working. Name-callings will only distance you from the actual cause and be occupied with other matters. Those may make you feel like a savior or a fighter, but you have gone farther away from the cause from where you actually set out for.

You must constantly remind yourself that you do not want enemies. All you must be interested in should be the cause. What is your cause? Even your family is a worthy cause. Imagine your thoughts and actions creating enemies for your family. You are here to cater to, protect, and ensure growth to your family, not to create enemies and put them in situations they are not prepared to be a part of.
