Life is meaningful, but do not spend it all on finding the meaning

Life is meaningful, but do not spend it all on finding the meaning.

“What is the purpose of living like this!”
“Living like what?”

Questions like these can be existential in nature. Sometimes they are highly motivating, at times
annoyingly depressive. Why do they arise? They arise because you sense a general
dissatisfaction with yourself, a feeling that you are not doing enough with yourself. This is good.

What happens after the question? Some go on overdrive for a while. Some decide that they
are good for nothing. Some others feel that they are so bound that they are unable to do
anything meaningful. You can find all of them around the same table a few days later. And the
questions repeat themselves.

You must be clear about what you want from life, for only then life can be that for you.
Dilly-dallying won’t do you any good. Most of the time you do not have any clarity about what
you want from life. You either wait for somebody else to tell you or you try to fill it up with some
junk which you have collected. This is why you frequently find yourself at the roundtable
conference questioning the purpose of life.

The purpose of life is what you give it as the purpose. Borrowed purposes are not going to do
you any good. Let every step you take lead you to the purpose you have set, through hailstorms
and clear sky. The meaning will present itself, and it won’t be a false sense of satisfaction you
force upon yourself.
