Get out there and see the world

शमथ। Samatha

It is easier to stay in your thoughts than do something about it. Somebody can constantly think that nobody likes them because they are not handsome enough or beautiful enough. Yes, the world has its perceptions about desirability from time to time, but that is not the topic here.

What does that person do about the so-called undesirable status of theirs?

Brood over it again and again until they can stuff more chocolate and junk into the already undesirable shape of the body? Why don’t you get out there and take a walk in the neighbourhood instead? Take a day off and keep walking. Don’t take your watch or phone with you. Keep walking the whole day wherever your leg leads you. Your mind will breathe a freshness which you have not allowed it in a long time. Before it gets too dark, take a bus or a metro to get back home. You will sleep like a baby that night.

The one who wakes up next morning will be a different individual, somebody who was in a coma for a long time. They remember everything that has been spoken of them, they remember how they were ridiculed, they remember everything. But they have no time for any of those. All they can see is a beautiful life ahead of them. Be this person. That does not mean leave your home, school, job everything and wander aimlessly.

Excessive thinking is the bane of a modern human being. Locked in tiny apartments suspended in the air many feet above the ground, people have become more and more disoriented. Four walls have become their world. Regular news feeds on the phone have become their world view.

They group themselves easily on online groups. They live in the bubbles of their thoughts. Have the courage to do something outside these secure bubbles and you will see for yourself.
